Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi: The Story of Earth

A STELLAR MULTIMEDIA ENVIRONMENT EXPANDS THE POSSIBILITIES OF EXHIBITION DESIGN

2026 | Abu Dhabi

Earth’s planetary history unfolds in a Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi gallery, where immersive multimedia elevates the interpretive experience.

Moment Factory was commissioned by Miral to lead the creative and technical design of The Story of Earth exhibit at the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. The project is one of three Moment Factory activations at the museum, alongside Life’s Journey and Earth’s Balance.

The multi-zone gallery, the first in the museum’s visitor journey, guides guests from the wonder of its cosmic origins to its first mass extinction. Inside, visitors are immersed in a starry corridor, leading toward one of the rarest meteorites on Earth, where they’re reminded that we are all made of stardust. They then encounter a revolving multimedia solar system centered on a domed projection structure and follow an animated timeline tracing the evolution of the first life forms on Earth.

The studio oversaw layout, scenography, narrative design, music, lighting, and visual content for the exhibit, working closely with subject-matter experts to ensure scientific accuracy throughout.

The project demonstrates how multimedia can be purposefully designed to provide meaningful context to a museum’s specimens, while amplifying their emotional impact for visitors.
