Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi: Life's Journey
A CINEMATIC IMMERSIVE JOURNEY THROUGH SPACE AND TIME
Visitors step inside the story of life on Earth in an immersive show distilling 13.8 billion years of history — and harnessing the power of experiential learning.
Moment Factory was commissioned by Miral to lead the creative and technical design of the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi’s immersive theatre, as well as the direction of its featured immersive show, Rahhal: Life’s Journey. This project is one of three Moment Factory collaborations at the museum, alongside The Story of Earth and Earth’s Balance.
From the Big Bang to the present day, the 12-minute multimedia show traces Earth’s history of continuous change, translating cycles of destruction, resilience, renewal, and abundance into high-impact multisensory moments for audiences to live for themselves.
Designed to double as an event space, the immersive theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and features a massive 270-degree screen that envelopes audiences in lifelike, full-scale animations. Among them are representations of several key specimens from the museum’s impressive collection, giving audiences the opportunity to experience them brought to life in the worlds they once inhabited. Moment Factory worked closely with leading subject-matter experts throughout the creative process to ensure the scientific accuracy of these ancient ecosystems.
With its accompanying original music, sound design, lighting, narration, and scenography, the show is both a technical feat and an emotional portrait of life on Earth designed to inspire love for nature’s wonders and a deepened connection to its distant past.
