Falling At Royal Caribbean
The third installment of Royal Caribbean International and Moment Factory’s groundbreaking Dance in a Box series takes performers in zero gravity.
Royal Caribbean’s Dance in a Box is a signature series developed for the cruiseliner’s innovative Roboscreen system, six colossal LED screens mounted on moveable robotic arms.
This third installment catapults the series to its ultimate cinematic height, dropping a silk aerialist into a celestial freefall through the magic of zero gravity.
A tribute to circus performers who risk their lives for art, Falling reimagines the box as a tesseract, a multi-dimensional space where a plummeting aerialist meets herself suspended in time. To capture the out-of-body encounter, a crew filmed the complex sequence with twin sisters on a Zero G Boeing 727 aircraft flight.
Months of pre production led up to the in-flight shoot. With the box bolted to the aircraft’s fuselage, scenes were filmed like live performances during parabolic maneuvers that create a state of weightlessness.
A feat of artistry and engineering, Falling is a testament to Royal Caribbean International’s commitment to cutting-edge entertainment and respect for craft. Shot and produced for Roboscreen and standard screen formats, Falling will be preceded with a making-of documentary, taking audiences behind the high-altitude scenes.
Falling was produced in collaboration with Sailor Productions.
