Celebrating 8 Years of Collaborative Growth in Japan

This year marks a special milestone since the opening of our Tokyo office at Shibuya Cast — 8 years in Japan shaped by bold ideas, local collaborations and shared growth.

As we invite our community to step into a world where technology meets imagination, we’re also celebrating the return of Kamuy Lumina and the long-term season launch of Light Cycles, the award-winning experience returning to Kyoto Botanical Gardens.

Find out how this milestone reflects the spirit behind everything we create.

We’re thrilled to celebrate the 8th anniversary of our Tokyo headquarters, located in the vibrant hub of Shibuya Cast. For almost a decade, this dynamic space has served as a creative playground to craft extraordinary projects that have landed in the Asian market, such as collaborations at Universal Studios Japan, Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station, and many others.

Fittingly, the number eight holds special meaning in Asian culture—symbolizing prosperity, growth, and new beginnings—making this anniversary all the more significant.

To mark this occasion, the studio was happy to open its doors, participating in this special event for a two-day public celebration, transforming the ground floor of the Shibuya Cast building into an immersive digital art showcase.

An AI-Driven Oasis of Creativity

To start the celebration highlights, two unique installations were placed for guests of all ages during the two-day public event at the Shibuya Cast building. The first installation, Photomaton, captivated guests by immersing them into an enchanting digital world where they were reimagined through an explosion of spring-inspired designs.

Also as part of this special 8th anniversary celebration, The Monsters Sketch Game sparked joy and creativity, turning simple drawings into animated moments of magic.

Expanding Horizons in Asia: A Continuous Story

A 6th season for Kamuy Lumina

The celebration comes at a meaningful moment, as Moment Factory continues to expand its presence and impact across Asia. On May 10, Kamuy Lumina—one of the studio’s signature Lumina Night Walks—reopens in Japan’s UNESCO-recognized Akan Mashu National Park. Created in close collaboration with the Ainu community of Lake Akan, this immersive experience transforms a walk under the stars into a rich journey through Indigenous culture and storytelling.

The unspoiled nature that people have preserved, the activities enjoyed throughout the seasons, and the Ainu culture are key tourism assets of Akan. To enhance these experiences, Kamuy Lumina represents a collaborative effort to create meaningful engagement while striving toward our ultimate vision - establishing Akan as the world’s premier hot spring resort”, explains Eichi Yamada, Chief of Business Planning and General Affairs at Kamuy Lumina.

Light Cycles Shines Once Again

The festivities continue with the return of Light Cycles—the award-winning immersive night walk and recipient of [d]arc Awards’ top honour—reopening as a long-term installation on May 24.

Its ongoing success highlights the studio’s ability to create touring experiences that transform existing outdoor locations into night-time art destinations through the transformative power of light and music.

As part of the Kyoto Action Plan for Expo 2025 in Osaka-Kansai, Light Cycles plays a key role in revitalizing the Kitayama-Kitaoji district.

Developed in collaboration with the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, Kyoto Prefecture, and local businesses, the experience reimagines the area as a vibrant evening destination.
