As night falls on the Museum of Exploration Courtyard, visitors are envelopped by the sights and sounds of the sea.

As part of a multifaceted collaboration, the National Geographic Society commissioned Moment Factory to design and produce an outdoor nighttime experience at its Museum of Exploration.

Wonders of Our World: Ocean takes audiences on an emotionally engaging journey, experiencing the ocean’s raw power and mysterious depths through a 360-degree orchestration of immersive video projections, dynamic lighting, a bold musical score, and spatialized sound.

The 17-minute show features footage captured by National Geographic Explorers woven with custom visual effects extending its textures, colors, and movements beyond the frame. Before and after the show, audiences are invited to playfully interact with marine life via reactive floor projections.

Moment Factory worked closely with architects to execute its vision of projecting onto floor-to-ceiling smart glass, creating an innovative dual-layered canvas that surprises with moments of transparency, depth, and illusion.

The show demonstrates how the studio’s expertise in large-scale outdoor immersion can be brought to transforming a venue’s exterior space into an after-hours attraction.
