A holiday-themed projection mapping show in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal.

Universal Creative mandated Moment Factory for the conceptualization, design, production and integration of projected multimedia content of an eight-minute Holidays show at Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Castle in Universal Hollywood, Orlando and Osaka.

This large-scale nightly show uses advanced video projection technology and content to bring Hogwarts Castle to life in addition to custom music arrangements by John Williams, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.

In this show, the castle is first seen as in the middle of a snow storm before it turns to ice, giving guests a look at the students inside dancing during the Yule Ball. At the finale, the façade gets covered by colourful Christmas paper complete with glittering bows, after students cast a spell.

This Christmas magic is made possible by projections coming from multiple areas which bring the architecture of the castle to life and transform it into various holiday scenes.

The biggest challenge for the Moment Factory creative and technical teams was about matching complex 3D visuals to the architecture of three slightly different castles, to make sure guests from all over the world could feel like the castle is opening up to them.
