Småland at IKEA Montréal
ENHANCING PLAY AREAS WITH INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Dynamic multimedia activations enhance IKEA’s Småland, welcoming a new era of play.
Moment Factory collaborated with IKEA Montréal to reimagine its Småland play area as an immersive world of play and discovery through interactive multimedia activations, including the Augmented Games platform.
Interactive digital technologies such as projection, responsive screens, lighting design, and soundscapes modernize the space. Seamlessly integrated into the preexisting Småland layout, they enhance the space with new opportunities for physical play.
Designed to be understood intuitively, with no instructions needed, the activations respond to children's steps, gestures and ideas, bringing together five ways of playing: exploring, moving, imagining, creating, and competing. Together, these elements create a dynamic ecosystem where each zone has its own energy, sparking curiosity and connection.
The first of its kind, the reimagined Småland showcases how multimedia play areas enhance retail spaces by engaging children through innovative activities that encourage participation and repeat visits.
