NIGHTRISE, A NEW BANFF GONDOLA EXPERIENCE, OPENS AT SULPHUR MOUNTAIN

This winter at Sulphur Mountain, Nightrise will transform the Banff Gondola into an immersive nighttime experience created by Moment Factory in collaboration with Pursuit and with the participation of the Stoney Nakoda Nation.
Alongside Rockies-inspired cuisine and drinks served at the summit’s restaurants, this unique winter gathering offers an evening of wonder and a fresh perspective on the iconic mountain range that tourists and locals won’t soon forget.
The Nightrise experience begins as guests step inside the gondola and embark on a multi-sensory journey. At the peak, they can wander through the multi-level summit building and step outside onto observation decks to encounter the magic that only emerges after sundown. Inspired by natural phenomena like cosmic rays and alpenglow, vivid multimedia effects, video projections, and original soundscapes transform the site into a place for exploration and contemplation.
The artistic concept behind Nightrise draws from Moment Factory’s Lumina Night Walk series, which is inspired by our connection to nature and created to enhance the wonder of each natural site. The Nightrise experience is derived from a combination of the storytelling-driven approach from our Lumina Enchanted Night Walk series and the installation-driven approach of our outdoor digital art exhibitions such as North Forest Lights and Light Cycles. Part indoors and part outdoors, this project merges multimedia with nature to entice people to visit the Banff Gondola during its quieter winter months.
