Kato Pleasure Group approached Moment Factory to bring the Lumina multimedia night walk to Japan. They wanted to offer an exceptional storytelling experience that would transport people into a fantastical world staged in harmony with the site’s landscape and culture.
The result is Island Lumina, a twilight journey following Yura, a young girl on a mythic quest to find an enchanted jewel. It’s the first new attraction at Kato Pleasure Group’s I+Land development, a first-class entertainment resort and destination in Iojima, Japan. Along an illuminated pathway where natural beauty is heightened by a seamless blend of light, interactive elements and projection mapping, visitors are invited to participate in an immersive world filled with enchantment and adventure.
We were excited by this opportunity to take the Lumina series to an international audience. As the first-ever Lumina night walk in Asia, this project posed the challenge of working across long distances while developing a story that’s locally specific yet universal. Ultimately, Island Lumina fuses regional legends with our unique approach to offer visitors a magical and memorable experience that’s utterly unique.
