Moment Factory’s Light Cycles, an outdoor immersive experience inspired by nature’s rhythms, will touch down in Wellington this May, transforming the garden into multi sensory night time attraction.
An original Moment Factory creation, Light Cycles invites audiences of all ages to tune into nature’s secret rhythms. Presented for the first time in New Zealand, and marking Moment Factory's debut project in the country, the experience will illuminate the Wellington Botanic Garden from May 11 to June 9, as a highlight of the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts.
The natural beauty of this site is enhanced through the seamless integration of projection, lighting, and music across self-contained artwork placed along a 1-kilometer trail. From the golden hues of the setting sun to the hidden language of trees, these installations immerse visitors in multisensory moments designed to deepen their connection to the natural world.
Light Cycles combines elements from Moment Factory’s vast multimedia repertoire, notably drawing inspiration from its Lumina Night Walk series, as well as North Forest Lights at The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Its upcoming debut in Wellington represents the experience’s third iteration, following two consecutive successful seasons at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in 2021 and 2022, as part of Illuminate Adelaide — an annual celebration of innovation, art, and technology.
With Light Cycles, existing attractions are able to extend their hours of operation, attract new visitors with an emotion-provoking experience, create new revenue opportunities, and enhance the overall experiential value of their sites.
Experience Light Cycles in Wellington, New Zealand, from May 11 to June 9, 2024, as part of the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of Arts.
